Yakka has named Whyalla Croatia as his GrassRoots club, joining Carl Veart in doing so.
Yakka was a late starter only picking up the game at 13, but developed quickly with incredible reflexes and agility seeing him sign with NASL Toronto from high school in Adelaide where he played with Portugese legend Eusebio. Returning to Australia he continued to break records as the most expensive keeper in the game when Heidelberg paid Essendon $20k + Peter Blasby for his services, a great investment when they on-sold him to Derby County in the UK, which sadly in the day, meant the end of his international career.
Yakka made his Australian debut in 1980 in a friendly against PNG and would feature in the England series the same year.
