Beginning her footballing life as a 9yr old with the Adamstown U12s Wheeler adds her name to the list of Rosebuds alumni that includes Ray Baartz, Alan Johns & Frank Parsons among others, but hers becomes the first woman's name to figure on the century old list.
After graduating from Rosebuds Wheeler made her way through the Emerging Jets programme before making her W-League start at the tender age of 16 and eventually into the Australian teams system.
Clare made her Matildas debut off the bench against Ireland alongside Danish club mate Angie Beard, and with the home World Cup on the horizon looks to be one of those to figure in coach Tony Gustavson's plans to reinvigorate his aging squad.
