Socceroo #34 is the elusive right winger Stan Bourke who came to fame with the Granville club in Sydney's west, but who learned his trade at school in Auburn Nth and with nearby the neighbouring Auburn, winning 3 premierships with the club as a youngster from 1917, before being enticed to the Magpies and the State League in 1922.
Debuting for Australia against the touring Canadians in 1924, Bourke played all 3 "tests" that year, then in the "B" internationals the following 2 seasons against England "B", the Bohemians & the Chinese.
Bourke, along with fellow Socceroo Charlie Leabeater, was also an accomplished cricketer playing 1st grade for the Cumberland club in his first season of cricket, a club made famous in years to come as the home of both Richie Benaud, himself an accomplished footballer, & Doug Walters.
