In nominating Kingscliff as her GrassRoots club Trena has given us a new club to add to the list & another from the far north coast of NSW.
This is a young lady who was told back in '84 that girls weren't allowed play soccer, so she played rugby league, yep, rugby league until the under 10's when girls weren't allowed to played that either. By then she was allowed to play with the boys team at Kingscliff where she spent those 3 formative seasons till the 13's and play against another future Matilda in Lisa Casagrande. Finally she moved to Coomera to play with the Womens side, thence onto the QAS.
Trena was one of 7 debutants in a 1994 friendly against Russia who would collectively rack up 270 caps for the Matildas, one of those, was Cheryl Salisbury who alone had 151 caps to her name, still a record.
It is a delight to add both a new name & club to our list, welcome Trena.
