Tammie Thornton

Matilda #93, Tammie Thornton, has nominated the Stratford Utd Dolphins the northernmost club thus far. Stratford Utd hail from the northern suburbs of Cairns in FNQ.
She is the second Matilda to name the Dolphins joining Alicia Ferguson who was a couple of years behind her at Magazine Reserve.
Tammie was one of 5 players to make their debut in the Australian side in 1996 against NZ and racked up 19 caps in a very hectic 2 years until injury cut short her career.
Tammie is a Queenslander through & through with Alfie, King Wally & Keiran Perkins as idols, Georgette Leake as a mentor and her greatest moment apart from her Matildas debut, was winning the national U16 titles for her state.
The Matildas were and always will be her extended family and she epitomises what wearing the green & gold means.

Greg Werner began playing in 1965, with the GrassRoots club of Socceroo skipper Murray Barnes, a change of suburb at age 6 and a new club, one that would become the GrassRoots club of Rob Wheatley & after a 27 year hiatus came back to playing with the GrassRoots club of Socceroos Steve Perry, Richie Bell, Chris Iconomidis & Matilda, Justine Fisher, one could say that the links with the NT are ingrained.
At age 55, when his body gave up on playing, he took up the whistle to stay actively involved. In November of 2014 he created the GFP on Facebook to fill the void left by those in control of the game & in January 2016 launched this website.
