Rose joins fellow Matilda Michelle Watson in naming the now defunct Crest Soccer club in Sydney's inner west as her GrassRoots club. The tall, athletic player was the architypal stopper in the mould of Peter Wilson, cool & calm on the ball and dominant in the air.
Rose started playing at the age of 12 at Crest and spent the first 5 years of her football education under the watchful eye of George Thomas before moving to Arncliffe Scots so as could continue her playing career as Crest were unaffiliated with the governing body.
Rosemary was on the field at Seymour Shaw Park in Miranda in 1979 for the first official Australian international against traditional rivals New Zealand and was among the Matilda's alumni to enjoy the 2017 Matildas win over Brasil in Newcastle.
