This morning I spent 3 delightful hours talking football from the 30's and 40's with the latest Socceroo to nominate his GrassRoots club.
Sadly the club, Rozelle Waratahs, no longer exists but thankfully '56 Olympics keeper Ron Lord, Socceroo #144, is very much alive.
the Waratahs were really a street side playing wherever they could but mainly at King George Park in Rozelle. Back in the day you taught yourself, so Ron must be a hell of a teacher as he was voted Keeper of the Century by those in the know, beating out the likes of Schwarzer, Bosnich et al.
It is both a pleasure and an honour to have the ex-Drummoyne, Yugal & Auburn man aboard.
