Peter & Howard Tredinnick

The name Tredinnick is inextricably linked with football in the Hunter, with Wallsend trotting out a pair of them (S & J) in goal in the 1920's and 40's, but it was at Lake McQuarie where the name really came to the fore.

Brothers Peter & Howard Tredinnick, Socceroos #318 & #327, have named Lake MacQuarie FC as their GrassRoots club. At Speers Point on the northern tip of Lake MacQuarie you will find Tredinnick Oval, (genisis unknown) home to the club now known as the Roosters & only a  good clearance from the home of NNSWFA and their magnificent set-up across the road.

The boys were the first brothers since the Maunders in the 1920's to play for their country though they never had the pleasure of being in the same Australian side. Howard was the first to be capped in 1981 against Indonesia, while Peter joined the illustrious list of Socceroos 2 years later against China.

It is wonderful to finally add this name and the club where the legendary Craig Johnston began his career to our Honour roll.

Greg Werner began playing in 1965, with the GrassRoots club of Socceroo skipper Murray Barnes, a change of suburb at age 6 and a new club, one that would become the GrassRoots club of Rob Wheatley & after a 27 year hiatus came back to playing with the GrassRoots club of Socceroos Steve Perry, Richie Bell, Chris Iconomidis & Matilda, Justine Fisher, one could say that the links with the NT are ingrained.
At age 55, when his body gave up on playing, he took up the whistle to stay actively involved. In November of 2014 he created the GFP on Facebook to fill the void left by those in control of the game & in January 2016 launched this website.
