Another Hall of fame has joined the ranks, this time its Socceroo #337, Paul Wade. Prior to arriving in Australia schoolyard football was all he'd played. Paul has nominated 2 clubs both instrumental in his development, Dandenong City & Doveton from Melbournes south eastern suburbs. He started at Dande as an 11yr old but moved to Doveton, which would become home to 2 other Socceroos in years to come, so I'm told. In fact he & fellow Socceroo Warren Spink both lived in Albert Rd.
Wade would make his Socceroo debut alongside Ange Postecoglou and 5 others in 1986 against the Czechs but really make his mark against Maradona & Argentina . Paul won 84 caps in all and his infectious commentary on the game has won many a heart. It is indeed an honour to add his name to our ever expanding roll call of Australian internationals.
