The next cab off the rank is another Matilda and yet another Queenslander.
Mackenzie Arnold is Matilda #185 and when I caught up with her at Lambert Pk she nominated the Burleigh Bulldogs from the Gold Coast as her GrassRoots club.
"Macca" started in goal at Pizzey Park at the age of 7 but spent the next 8 years as an "outfielder" & it wasn't until Jeff Hopkins got hold of her at the QAS as a 15yr old that her future in goals & thus in top flight football, was assured.
Mackenzie made her green and gold debut in the EAFF Cup qualifier against Taiwan in 2012 & won herself a place in the 2015 World Cup Squad.
