Another player to come through the Gold Coast the former Mariner's central defender Kye Rowles began his career as a six year old coached by his father Paul at the Palm Beach Soccer Club. He followed in the footsteps of Matildas Aivi Luik & Casey Dumont & Socceroo Tommy Oar.
Rowles also spent a couple of seasons playing alongside fellow Socceroo Nick D'Agostino at nearby Runaway Bay.
Rowles became Socceroo #622 in June 2022 against the United Arab Emirates in a World Cup qualifier. Graham Arnold was searching for a central defender to partner the still injured Harry Souttar and Rowles went on to partner the big man at every game in Qatar.
He joined the throng of Aussies playing their trade in Scotland when he moved to Edinburgh club Hibernian.
