Josip, Socceroo #429, began playing with the now defunct Mt.Gambier Croatia as a 6 year old before the family moved to Geelong when he was 9. Under the watchful eye of his father Ivan as a youngster, it was another Ivan, the late Ivan Russo from the Warriors who helped develop his game to the point where he would earn a contract with the famous Hajduk Split club.
Skoko earned the first of his 51 Australian caps off the bench in Skopje against Macedonia in late 1997 and would go on to be a member of the 2006 World Cup finals squad in Germany.
Josip has now returned to the club to coach and give back to the grassroots.
