20km south-east of the centre of Vienna lies the suburb of Schwechat and its football club SV Schwechat is the club named by Socceroo #601, James Jeggo, as his GrassRoots club.
James arrived in Australia at a fully functional 10-yr old who'd spent the first 6 years of his footballing life playing on the outer fields of the Rudolf Tonn Stadion. He grew under the watchful eye here in Australia, of John Campelja at Green Gully and further improved under the tutelage of Ian Greener at the VIS.
I spoke with James after he made his G&G debut off the bench against Lebanon in the much touted "Tim Cahill Farewell" game in 2018. His joy, was palpable and it is a great pleasure to add our first "Austrian" to the GFP. Welcome aboard Jimmy.
