Playing in the same position as his father, Jack Lennard grew up playing his football with the Cessnock club in the heart of the southern coalfields of the NSW Hunter region.
Football was not only in the blood in the Lennard household but in the very air he breathed. Cessnock, Aberdare, Kearsley just like the suburbs of Ipswich, produced a vast array of quality footballers over generations many many pulling on the green and gold.
Jack, Socceroo #129, made his debut in the Australian forward line alongside 3 other debutants in 1954 against the Kiwis and played in both of Australia's games in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne.
