Grace Gill

A side benefit of my trip to the Matildas game in Adelaide was to finally meet Matilda #158, Grace Gill, who confirmed my long held suspicion that her GrassRoots club is the same as Socceroo Andrew Bernal, Belsouth, from Canberra's north-western suburbs.
Grace made her one and only appearance for the Matildas in 2007 in a match away against Hong Kong in what was a brand new team containing the likes of Elysse Perry, Kyah Simon & Elise Kellond-Knight amongst others. The game was an Olympic qualifier and won convincingly 8-1.
Grace started at Hawker playing fields at the age of 8 and fondly remembers the Hodgkiss family as huge contributors the the club both then & now and on whom the foundations of our game are built.

It was really nice to know more information about Grace. She is indeed a very remarkable athlete in this sports and it is such an honor for me to know about her and what she does in her life. I would sincerely want to thank the people behind this article and tell you how happy I am because of what you have written above. Grace indeed deserves to be praised and loved by many. I am now a fan and will promise to support her no matter what. She will surely become more successful in the future.

Greg Werner began playing in 1965, with the GrassRoots club of Socceroo skipper Murray Barnes, a change of suburb at age 6 and a new club, one that would become the GrassRoots club of Rob Wheatley & after a 27 year hiatus came back to playing with the GrassRoots club of Socceroos Steve Perry, Richie Bell, Chris Iconomidis & Matilda, Justine Fisher, one could say that the links with the NT are ingrained.
At age 55, when his body gave up on playing, he took up the whistle to stay actively involved. In November of 2014 he created the GFP on Facebook to fill the void left by those in control of the game & in January 2016 launched this website.
