Gordon David "Bunny" Nunn, Socceroo #110, hails from the St.Helens club in the coal mining town of Ipswich, west of Brisbane. The West Moreton Association gave us not only St.Helens, but Bundamba Rangers, Dinmore Bush Rats, Booval & Blackstone Rovers who between them and their merged entities have, over multiple decades, produced in excess of 20 Australian internationals. The club you played for in Ipswich was more often than not determined by the street in which you lived.
Bunny was a star at Bundamba School, scoring 48 goals in one 10-game season and would go on to play 12 times for the national team, debuting in 1948 against the Kiwis and scoring 7 times in a decade long career.
He was not the first Nunn from Ipswich to wear the national team jersey following in the footsteps of Eric Nunn who played in 1924. If you were a Nunn or a Kitching from Ipswich, football was in your blood.
