Socceroo #153, Arthur came up at Adamstown Oval alongside fellow future Socceroos Allan Johns & Franks Parsons & in one season the Rosebuds U15s (pictured) scored 137 goals while conceding just the one. He moved to Wallsend at 18 to play with and learn from Artie Quill & the great Reg Date.
Arthur played in both of Australia's Olympic games matches in 1956 making his debut in the half backs (midfield) in the 2-0 win over Japan.
In all Arthur played 420 games with Wallsend in a career that ended in 1959 after captaining the club for his final 4 seasons which included a pair of state premierships in 1957 & 1959.
