A new decade and a landmark player... Matilda #200, Emily Condon.
Emily grew up playing her junior football in Port Pirie some 230kms north of Adelaide on the Spencer Gulf. Starting as a 6yr old
with St.Marks, within 10 years she would become the youngest player to pull on a Lady Reds jersey for Adelaide Utd in the W-League and less than 2 years later she would make her Matilda's debut, off the bench, in the Algarve Cup against the hosts, Portugal.
Her entire junior career was guided by George & Connie Komitsas (sic.) at St.Marks, a couple who embody the spirit of giving that is the GrassRoots Football community.
I caught up with Emily at the recent W/W-League double header and found her a delightful young lady to chat with. The national team will see much more of her in time.
