Today, meet Dave Ward, Socceroo #11, who, along with Balgownie team mate "Tich" Thompson, led the Australian attack against NZ at Dunedin's famous "House of Pain", Carisbrooke, in 1922.
Football in Australia was, in the early days, very much a family affair & you'll find the Ward name throughout the club's history.
Dave Ward won 7 caps in all rising from the bucolic surrounds of Caldwell's Paddock in Balgownie, to the very peak of the game.

The original Socceroos were GrassRoots Football writ large, welcome Dave Ward.
