The 2nd leg of the Aberdare trifecta is in & with today's nominator. Socceroo #179, Bill Rorke, has nominated Aberdare Rangers as his GrassRoots Club. In what must be a unique occasion Bill replaced good friend & fellow Ranger John Roberts between the sticks for the second leg of the '66 WC qualifier against North Korea. Bill had come to Sydney and was keeping for Bankstown at the time but his heart remained with the Cessnock area (there must be something in the water up there).
Another of nature's true gentlemen & an absolute pleasure to have him aboard, welcome Bill.
ps... Aberdare Oval was 100m east of Turner Park and is now an athletics field. Aberdare & Cessnock were always fierce but friendly rivals.
