Get 2 Octagenarians in a room and what have you got… a talk fest. Our latest Socceroo to join the GFP is Granville Waratah's goalkeeper Bill Henderson, Soccer #128. Bill played for both Granville sides, Waratahs as a kid & Kewpies but its the Waratahs he has nominated as his GrassRoots club playing out of what was then McArthur Park but is now known as Garside Reserve.
The son of Glaswegian Andy who was a member of the 1923 Australian squad, football ran in the Henderson blood with big brother Andy a respected member of the NSW football family.
Bill was Ron Lord's back-up in the '56 Olympic team having made his national team debut in '54 against the Kiwis and these 2 gents & Doug Wendt have provided a wealth of memories and both Ron & Bill remained firm friends and golfing buddies into their 90s.
Thank you Bill it was a pleasure to spend time with you & an honour to have you as part of the GFP.
