GrassRoots football is not just a place to start your career, in the case of today's nominator its also the place you play with your mates just for the fun of it long after the international limelight has been turned off.
Yesterday Sunni Hughes & her old Matilda's team mates Julie Murray & Michelle Watson were at it again taking out the title in the Sutherland comp. Linda "Sunni" Hughes, Matilda #56, Hall of Famer and one of Australia's great goalscorers has nominated Toronto Awaba from the MacQuarie Association in Newcastle as her GrassRoots club.
Sunni made her debut against the Kiwis in 1989 and would garner 78 caps in all scoring 24 times in the Green & Gold. She's still knocking them in and is officially a Matilda, an Olympian & a legend as ratified by her 2013 induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
