Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you don't get the answer you expect. So that it was when I spoke with Andrew Marth, Socceroo #380. Andrew has nominated Sunshine City as his GrassRoots club. Despite a number of years at Heights its City that got the nod with the coaching of John Gardner the decisive factor.
Andrew started out at Altona Central, moved to Heights then from the age of 14 he came under John's tutelage at City, instilling in him the desire and skill needed to make it to the top.
Andrew debuted for Australia alongside 3 others against the Kiwis in 1991at QE2 in Christchurch.
City would merge with George Cross in 1983 to become the club we know today as Sunshine George Cross and where the likes of his old team-mate John Markovski, Jeff Olver and Lorenz Kindtner all ex Sunshine Heights, would eventually ply their trade, amongst so many others.
