Today's nominator brings a whole new perspective to GrassRoots pathways.
Leena Khamis, Matilda #163, has nominated the MacArthur Rams from Sydney's south-west as her GrassRoots club.
Leena is the middle of 3 girls from the Khamis clan to play the game with both Leena & younger sister Sham on the books at Sydney FC, but it is to her elder sister that she owes her start in the game.
Leena had only backyard football in her kitbag when her older sister, who was working with the Rams, suggested she trial for the under 14 rep side at Lynwood Park. She was selected with no formal playing background at all, & so it all began.
Leena made her Matilda's debut in 2008 against China, was a member of the 2011 World Cup squad & at this point has 25 caps & 5 goals to her name.
